This is the Classic Z28 you have been looking for!!!

I dare say that you will not find another 77 Z28 LT as clean and unmolested as this one. The car is actually much younger than its year indicates, as it has not been licensed for the road for over 22 years. These horses want to run, I’m opening the gate, watch out!

This Z28 LT Camaro is 100% factory Chevrolet inside and out (original paint), no other modifications, except for the rebuilt engine (not original block, intake manifold, carburetor, or air cleaner), headers, and exhaust system. The engine is not extreme; it was just built to be a strong reliable power plant! I planned on seeing how many more horses I could stuff under the hood, with a new super high horsepower crate engine, to make it the muscle car that I never had when I was younger. But, the years have passed by, and my body has not aged as well as my Z28’s, so I have decided it is time to sell the car.

Regarding its horsepower, I can only tell you from my first hand driving experiences, that it is substantially greater than most cars on the road. I never got around to putting it on a dyno, and I would be only guessing if I came up with a number. But, I will tell you that we purchased the new body style 1984 Corvette when they first came out. It was my wife's car but "sometimes" she would let me drive it. It was always my opinion that my 77 Z28 would outperform her Corvette. She was always afraid to fully test out my theory when we were both on the road! I built the engine for strong mid range performance. I was not so interested in spinning the tires but I was interested in very fast acceleration and a high top speed. I just remember that while going down the road at 45 to 65 mph range, stomping on it would launch you like a rocket ship, leaving the car that was messing with you only visible in your rear view mirror. Oh, the good old days! As I recall, the tires would break loose on some hard surfaces (dependent on tire size and tread). I added the wider tires for better road handling performance. Obviously, changing the ratio in the rear end gearing would give the car dragster burnout capability. You can see, if you watch closely, in one of the videos, on the linked page, that the posi-traction is working properly during my mini gravel burnout.

I am the original owner. It was purchased in CA and has been here since. The car has always been garaged in the Bay Area of Northern California and has no accident, rust, or salt damage. No one has ever smoked in the car. The Z28 has a rebuilt engine with only 40K miles approximately on it. Starts easily. Redlines around 6500 RPM. Really fast acceleration. Never raced or abused. Used as a freeway commute vehicle. Not licensed for the road since 1985. Have driven it regularly on the back road to keep everything lubricated and in good running condition. The Z28 LT models are somewhat rare from my research. Located in San Ramon, CA, 94583. You will be hard pressed to find another 1977 Z28 LT as clean as this one.

Someone is going to take this gem away, make it you! Car is being sold as is. Per California DMV regulations, California buyers will be required to immediately non-op vehicle as required smog equipment is absent and would have to be added, and car would have to get a smog certificate, all at the buyer's expense, before the car could be put back on the road in California.

The History of the Chevrolet Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro is a "pony car" made in North America by the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors. It was introduced on 26 September 1966 as a 1967 model year and was designed as a competing model to the Ford Mustang. The car shared the platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced in 1967. Four distinct generations of the car were produced before production ended in 2002. A new Camaro is expected to roll off assembly lines in January 2009.
